Echo Magazine

Role

Production Manager. Publication Design/Editorial. Branding

Echo Magazine is an award-winning print magazine created by a collaborative team comprised of Journalism, Graphic Design, and Photography students at Columbia College Chicago.

As a team, we come together and recreate the magazine each year, where we develop a theme and identity for the issue. From there, we work together with the journalist to find and write stories while designing layouts and constructing a visual identity to create a fluid and new publication.

My roles in this project consisted of branding manager, production manager, and designer. I helped develop the branding and visual identity along with the creative director to be sure a theme through colors, typefaces, and design patterns were relevant and complimented the editorial. I worked with specific journalist to design spreads for their stories that helped represent the read as well. And finally, I managed the production of the magazine – managing all the files and spreads from designers, overviewing that design constructs were followed including typefaces, spacing, colors, layout, and images were up to standards to the overall vision of the magazine, as well as to printing standards.
